OTHER SERVICES
IMAGING SERVICES St. Mary's Hospital's Radiology Department offers state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, including ultrasound and video endoscopy (a method by which "moving" x-rays are produced). St. Mary's Hospital was the first hospital in New Jersey to offer the GE LightspeedTM QX/I computerized tomography (CT) scan. The GE Lightspeed scanner's advanced diagnostic features have the potential to provide better, earlier diagnoses, reduce the number of invasive procedures, and can improve patient care by way of faster scan times and multiple image capturing.
A Special Procedures Suite allows physicians to conduct procedures such as angiography in a precise manner and without having to move the patient. Portable x-ray units are available for use at patients' bed-sides, producing images of unparalleled quality.
A chest x-ray Suite expedites patients' tests with a dedicated chest unit, enabling technicians to perform the exam quickly and efficiently. Emergency Department patients benefit from a float-top table x-ray unit which minimizes the moving of trauma patients.
St. Mary's efforts in the field of early breast cancer detection are enhanced through the use of a suite equipped with a pneumatic mammography machine. The ultrasound department at St. Mary's Hospital is fully accredited by the American College of Radiology. The accreditation encompasses OB/GYN, general and vascular ultrasonography.
