SMH is a 264-bed regional medical center located in the City of Passaic, New Jersey.  There are 212 medical/surgical beds, 16 ob/gyn beds, 10 pediatric beds, 5 intermediate bassinets, and 25 adult ICU/CCU beds.  In addition to a complete inpatient service program, the Medical Center provides numerous outpatient services.

The Center’s primary service area encompasses Passaic County, especially Clifton and the City of Passaic, but also serves communities in southern Bergen County, parts of Essex, Morris, and Hudson Counties.   Many of its specialty services, such as The Cardiac Program, serve patients from all parts of New Jersey and New York.

IMAGING SERVICES

St. Mary's Hospital's Radiology Department offers state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, including ultrasound and video endoscopy (a method by which "moving" x-rays are produced). St. Mary's Hospital was the first hospital in New Jersey to offer the GE Lightspeed^TM QX/I computerized tomography (CT) scan. The GE Lightspeed scanner's advanced diagnostic features have the potential to provide better, earlier diagnoses, reduce the number of invasive procedures, and can improve patient care by way of faster scan times and multiple image capturing.

A Special Procedures Suite allows physicians to conduct procedures such as angiography in a precise manner and without having to move the patient. Portable x-ray units are available for use at patients' bed-sides, producing images of unparalleled quality.

A chest x-ray Suite expedites patients' tests with a dedicated chest unit, enabling technicians to perform the exam quickly and efficiently. Emergency Department patients benefit from a float-top table x-ray unit which minimizes the moving of trauma patients.

St. Mary's efforts in the field of early breast cancer detection are enhanced through the use of a suite equipped with a pneumatic mammography machine. The ultrasound department at St. Mary's Hospital is fully accredited by the American College of Radiology. The accreditation encompasses OB/GYN, general and vascular ultrasonography.
