Our Services SMH is a 264-bed regional medical center located in the City of Passaic, New Jersey. There are 212 medical/surgical beds, 16 ob/gyn beds, 10 pediatric beds, 5 intermediate bassinets, and 25 adult ICU/CCU beds. In addition to a complete inpatient service program, the Medical Center provides numerous outpatient services. The Center’s primary service area encompasses Passaic County, especially Clifton and the City of Passaic, but also serves communities in southern Bergen County, parts of Essex, Morris, and Hudson Counties. Many of its specialty services, such as The Cardiac Program, serve patients from all parts of New Jersey and New York.     
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES
Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) (973) 470-3025 • Designated as the Passaic County Screening Center • Provides emergency psychiatric evaluation, screening, treatment and referral • Crisis Hotline available to provide 24 hours telephone hotline for information, referral, and follow up. • Offers 24 hour mobile crisis response • Offers crisis services to Juvenile Detention Center and the Passaic County Jail • Offers a Jail Diversion program delivering assessments and treatment recommendations for individuals in the judicial system who have a mental illness Crisis Residence (STEP) (973) 471-6907 • also known as the Short Term Emergency Placement Program (STEP) • has a capacity of 4 beds for Passaic County residents • provides a temporary residential setting for individuals requiring crisis intervention. • operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week • provides an alternative to hospitalization for persons diagnosed with a mental illness, but not acutely dangerous to self, others or property
PSYCHIATRIC INPATIENT SERVICES • Visiting hours are Mon/Wed/Fri 12-1 pm; Tues/Thurs 4-6 pm; Sat/Sun/Holidays 12-1 pm and 4-6 pm Short Term Care Facility (STCF) • Designated by the State of NJ Division of Mental Health Services as the Short Term Care Facility for Passaic County • Fifteen-bed facility provides the only acute involuntary treatment in Passaic County. • Services are accessed only through St. Mary’s Hospital Screening Center. • Provides intensive group services, with a minimum of 5 groups per day.
Voluntary Unit • Twenty-three beds provide voluntary inpatient treatment.
Both units are staffed with Psychiatrists, Nurses, Psychologist, Social Workers, and Occupational Therapists.
OUTREACH SERVICES • Two Locations: Passaic (973) 470-3516 Pompton Lakes (973) 616-0341 • Provides primary psychiatric treatment to individuals living with serious mental illness • Services are provided primarily in the community through outreach visits • Offers a multi-disciplinary team staffed with psychiatrists, nurses, vocational specialists, substance abuse specialists, and clinical specialists
Integrated Case Management Services (ICMS) • Two Locations: Passaic (973) 470-3142 Pompton Lakes (973) 616-8981 • Provides case management wrap around services to Passaic County residents living with serious mental illness. • Offers referral, linkage, and advocacy services • Services are provided primarily in the community through outreach visits
PSYCHIATRIC RESIDENTIAL SERVICES Adult Transitional Residential Services (ARS) (973) 470-3056 • Provides a supportive educational and rehabilitative residential stay to Passaic County residents living with serious mental illness • Offers varying levels of supervised housing • Provides a transitional setting where individuals can move towards independent living situations
Specialized Residence (SRP) (973) 470-3056 • Operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. • Provides provides permanent housing to individuals living with serious mental illness.. • Provides supportive mental health services to 50 residents of the Passaic/Clifton YMCA. • Referrals accepted from Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital and other community residential sources where independent living is required.
Adolescent Residence (973) 470-3056 • Provides a 9 bed voluntary interim residential treatment program • Serves Adolescents between the ages of 11-17 • Therapeutic services are individualized, child-centered, and family focused
Adult Partial Care (APC) (973) 470-3056 • Treatment provided to individuals 18 years or older • Provides a structured Psycho-Social Day Program for adults living with serious mental illness. • Services include psychiatric assessment, medication monitoring, occupational therapy and group programming • Assists individuals in increasing and maximizing independence and community living skills • Hours of service: Monday through Friday 9 am – 3 pm
Acute Partial Hospital (APH) (973) 470-3056 ext-3774 • Treatment provided to individuals 18 years or older • Provides intensive and time limited acute psychiatric services to individuals who are at risk of rapid decompensation • Intended to minimize the need for hospitalization • Services include psychiatric assessment, medication monitoring, group psychotherapy and psychoeducation • Hours of service: Monday through Friday 9 am – 3 pm
Adolescent Partial Hospital (973) 470-3056 • Treatment provided to individuals 11-17 years old who have been diagnosed with a mental illness • Provides an after-school intensive treatment program • Intended to minimize the need for hospitalization • Services include psychiatric assessment, medication monitoring, group therapy, activity therapy and psychoeducation • Hours of service: Monday through Friday 4pm – 8 pm
Outpatient Services (973) 470-3514 • Treatment provided to children, adolescents and adults • Services include individual psychotherapy, psychiatric evaluation, family therapy, group therapy, medication monitoring and trauma treatment • Designated to provide Post Partum treatment services • Hours of service are Monday and Thursday: Noon – 8 pm Tuesday: 9am -- 6pm Wednesday, Friday: 9am – 5 pm
