Our Services SMH is a 264-bed regional medical center located in the City of Passaic, New Jersey. There are 212 medical/surgical beds, 16 ob/gyn beds, 10 pediatric beds, 5 intermediate bassinets, and 25 adult ICU/CCU beds. In addition to a complete inpatient service program, the Medical Center provides numerous outpatient services. The Center’s primary service area encompasses Passaic County, especially Clifton and the City of Passaic, but also serves communities in southern Bergen County, parts of Essex, Morris, and Hudson Counties. Many of its specialty services, such as The Cardiac Program, serve patients from all parts of New Jersey and New York.     
OUTPATIENT PROGRAMS
This program for individuals who require short term psychiatric services on a day hospital basis is located at an off-site ambulatory center near the medical center. Clients receive counseling, recreation, lunch and snacks, and are provided transportation.
FAMILY HEALTH CENTER The St. Mary's Hospital Family Health Center offers a range of outpatient medical services to promote, maintain, and restore good health to the people who live and work within our communities. Appraisal, advice, and treatment are given to all, in an atmosphere of respect for individuality, ethnicity, culture, and values. Our goal is to open the doors to quality healthcare for those who may not otherwise have access. Our bilingual staff is highly-professional and caring. The attending physicians are qualified professionals who serve as members of the St. Mary's Hospital Medical/Dental Staff. The Family Health Center's services extend from medical care and follow-up services to important social services. There is a dietitian on staff to guide nutritional requirements, as well as a social worker to provide coordination with government programs. The Prenatal and Pediatric Clinics provide important community services such as bilingual Lamaze classes, Woman Infant Children (WIC) distribution, Obstetrical services, Healthstart, and visits to Well Baby clinics. The Early Intervention Program (EIP) has become the primary facility of its kind for lower Passaic and South Bergen County residents. The Center also provides financial screening and assists with enrollment in Medicaid, NJ Family Care, NJ KidCare, Charity Care, and other New Jersey and federal programs. This non-invasive laboratory provides a complete array of ultrasound services used to diagnose vascular disorders. Accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories, services include cerebrovascular evaluations, arterial and venous evaluations, and aorta and visceral vascular evaluations. Physical and Occupational Therapy as well as cardiac rehab are provided. Two equipped gyms are used with licensed professionals supervising care plans.
Pulmonary Function Testing is provided on a daily basis.
The Center provides both inpatient and chronic outpatient services with six stations.
This substance abuse recovery program is located offsite at the Center’s ambulatory care center.
THE PAIN MANAGEMENT CENTER The St. Mary's Hospital Pain Management Center offers treatment programs for patients suffering from chronic pain due to a variety of conditions such as back problems, arthritis, cancer, or surgery. Chronic pain is treated as a disease in itself, and the Center uses a number of advanced treatment methods to decrease or eliminate pain, decrease the need for medications, improve levels of activity, and decrease the patient's dependence on the healthcare system.
These treatments include nerve blocks, medication control, physical therapy, occupational therapy, radio frequency current therapy, electrical nerve stimulation, infusion devices, cryotherapy, and psychotherapy.

THE CENTER FOR THE TREATMENT OF THE CHRONIC WOUND St. Mary's Hospital provides diagnostic services and therapeutic treatments for patients who have chronic wounds due to various conditions, such as diabetes, circulation problems, and collagen vascular disorders. The goal of this specialized care is to explore and utilize as many non-surgical treatment options as possible. These non-surgical treatments are patient-specific, and may often include bed and chair mobility devices, orthotics (arch supports), the latest technology in wound dressing techniques, and medicated gels or creams. Patient education in the prevention and treatment of wounds is also a critical part of the wound care program. Services remain available on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Physicians from most medical specialties are on-call on a 24-hour basis, to care for patients' special needs, services, or conditions. BALANCE MANAGEMENT CENTER The St. Mary's Hospital Balance Management Center offers an individualized program of evaluation and treatment for people of all ages who experience episodes of vertigo (dizziness) tinnitus (ringing in the ears), or oscilopecia (unsteady walking). The program is designed to identify where the symptoms originate and to determine the appropriate patient-specific treatment. Treatment may include eye movement or balance exercises, physical therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, or hypnosis.
A team of specialists, including otolaryngologists, audiologists, physical therapists, and neurologists, is available to assist in the evaluation and treatment process. State-of-the-art evaluation equipment and modern CT technology ensure patients of an expedient and accurate diagnosis.
THE CENTER FOR SLEEP MEDICINE The St. Mary's Hospital Center for Sleep Medicine provides comprehensive services for the diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as sleep apnea, myoclonus, narcolepsy, and restless leg syndrome. The Center offers specific care to help alleviate the disruption caused in the normal life of the patient by sleep and breathing disorders. Treatment is patient-specific and may include weight loss, prescriptions for equipment to help breathing during sleep, medications, and possibly surgery. Our team of specialists and pulmonologists, assisted by our credentialed sleep technologists, work together to ensure you of an expedient and accurate diagnosis. All of our polysomnographic technologists are licensed respiratory therapists. In addition, we rely on a team of medical specialists who support the Center in areas including neurology, pulmonology, internal medicine, gastroenterology, and otolaryngology.
