About This Event

  • Event Type:Special Events

A true medical emergency is an event that threatens your, or someone else’s, life and where medical care is needed to prevent death or serious injury. As we get older, the line between a medical emergency and a non-urgent health condition may become blurred. Conditions such as chest pain or a headache may not seem urgent at first but may evolve to become life-threating in a matter of minutes. Learn how to recognize the signs of a medical emergency with Vito Cicchetti, MICP, Director of Emergency Medical Services at St. Mary’s General. Vito will also review how to communicate with dispatcher, what to do before and after the ambulance arrives, and what happens in the Emergency Room.
